Which are the best family dogs? Part I

When you’re considering adopting a dog, it’s important that you choose one that will fit into your family. What makes a good family dog? They have to be well behaved, great with children and other pets, and have an overall good disposition.

Here we give you some information of the best family dogs in terms of personality traits and characteristics:

Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers are great family dogs. They are loyal, friendly and energetic, and they generally get along well with kids.

However, because Golden Retrievers were bred as hunting dogs, it’s important to supervise children when they’re playing with or near a Golden Retriever.

Small children may not understand the way the dog will react if they hit it or pull its tail — so adult supervision is required until the child knows how to properly interact with a canine companion.

Despite their reputation as friendly companions of small children, Golden Retrievers also do well around other animals in the household such as cats and other dogs.

These canines should be trained at an early age by their owners; otherwise they could become difficult to handle later on in life when left on their own without direction from humans!

Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retrievers are great family dogs. They are also a good choice for first-time dog owners, as they are very intelligent and easy to train. Labs have a strong desire to please their owners, which makes them easier to live with than other breeds.

Labradors have been popular for hunting, search and rescue work, therapy work and guide dogs for the blind or deaf.

Havanese

The Havanese is a gentle, affectionate and playful dog that is good with children. He can be trained to be very well-behaved and makes a great companion for children. The Havanese is also very friendly towards other dogs, cats, other pets as well as strangers.

The Havanese has an excellent temperament so it’s not difficult to train him or her to obey basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘stay’ and ‘come’. Just like many other small breeds of dog he loves learning new tricks!

Great Danes

Great Danes are gentle giants. They were once known as the “Apollo of Dogs” for their regal stature and striking appearance, but today they’re known more for being sweet, patient family companions.

Great Danes can be good with children if they’ve been socialized properly; however, since they tend to be large dogs with a high prey drive and aggression towards small animals, they require a lot of exercise and training.

They also get along well with other dogs—if you have a yard, consider adopting two Great Danes so they can keep each other company while you’re at work (this is especially important if one of your dogs has high anxiety).

While it’s generally not recommended that you adopt two unrelated male Great Danes because of their high testosterone levels, therefore is better to have two brothers and you’ll love those sweet boys!

The Collie

The Collie is a medium-sized dog with a long, flowing coat. They have been bred since the 19th century to herd sheep and cattle, so if you are looking for a dog that can work on your farm or ranch, this may be the best choice for you.

Collies are extremely intelligent, loyal and protective due to their history as working dogs. They love children and get along well with other pets such as cats and other dogs. Their intelligence means they will quickly learn any commands you teach them!

If there are strangers around your home or neighborhood, they may bark at them while they’re outside; however if they come inside it’s sure they protect their owners because of their protective nature when it comes down to protecting those who matter most–the family unit within which lives under one roof together.
